There is a wide range of quality walks through quiet rural landscapes of diverse character. All trails are steeped in the history of the island long regarded as ‘the end of the known world’.

Wexford, on the gentle River Slaney, has been the gateway for repeated invasions down the centuries. Archaeological treasures abound: religious, civic, military, from the earliest times down to the high mediaeval to the John F Kennedy experience of recent decades.

Many of our walks have rugged terrain. All walks are graded. The length of each trail is indicated on the map to assist you to select the right walk for your ability. Hover your mouse over each marker on the map to view the trails available at that location. Click on the marker for further details.

Person walking icon About Wexford Walking Trails Network

Wexford Walking Trails CLG (WWT) is a network of walking trails throughout Co. Wexford. It was established under a Wexford Local Development training programme. WWT collaborates with Wexford County Council, Coillte, Local Sports Partnerships, Fáilte Ireland, Waterford Institute of Technology, National Parks & Wildlife Services and Sport Ireland. Many of the WWT local trails are located in Coillte owned woodlands and WWT appreciates the support and co-operation of Coillte in developing these trails under their Open Forest policy. In developing this network of trails, WWT intends to enhance the visitor experience in County Wexford. The network aims to raise awareness of the quality, diversity and location of Wexford Walking trails.

Membership

Wexford Walking Trail membership is determined by a standard set down by the Wexford Walking Trail Network. Only those trails which have Sport Ireland approval and registration can become members. Membership provides a useful resource for those involved in developing walking trails. WWT members readily share expertise and information with each other. The network also fosters links with neighbouring counties for the purpose of promoting walking trails within the South East of Ireland. Any group seeking information or is interested in developing a trail and becoming a member of WWT should email [email protected]

Wexford Walking Trails clg would like to acknowledge the recent, and very generous support, that was afforded to many of our Community Groups through Pobal and the Department of Rural and Community Development. All trails registered with Sport Ireland were eligible to apply for Community Trail Grants, and many did so, enabling them to invest further in the maintenance and development of their trails.
