Exploring the stunning landscapes of County Wexford just got easier for everyone!
Wexford Walking Trails is thrilled to announce the completion of significant accessibility improvements across 27 of its popular “easy” graded trails, thanks to a substantial investment of €219,000 from the Department of Rural & Community Development’s Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) grants.
This vital project focused on making Wexford’s beautiful walking paths more multi-user friendly. Enhancements include upgraded trail surfaces, the addition of dedicated disabled parking spaces, installation of comfortable seating benches and picnic tables, and clear, accessible advisory signage. From the picturesque paths of Kilanerin to the coastal charm of Rosslare Harbour, and stretching across beloved spots like Courtown Wood, Forth Mountain, and Tintern, these upgrades ensure that more people can now enjoy the natural beauty of Wexford.
The newly improved network will be officially launched by Eamonn Hore, Director of Service, Wexford County Council, at 11 AM on Sunday, June 15th. The launch event will take place on the Rosslare Harbour Clifftop Trail, with attendees meeting first at the Viewing Point overlooking the Europort. This exciting unveiling is a proud part of the Rosslare Harbour Festival 2025.
“We are incredibly proud to see these improvements come to fruition,” says Peter O’Connor, Chairperson of Wexford Walking Trails. “Our aim was to ensure that more of our community and visitors can experience the joy and health benefits of walking our trails. This funding has allowed us to create a truly inclusive outdoor experience across the county.”
Members of the media and the public are invited to attend the launch and discover the enhanced accessibility first-hand.
